This is a certified refurbished printer. No evidence that it's ever been used. Plugged it in, my Mac went right out and grabbed the software, I reset my printer settings and voila. I have a printer! I'm very happy with the quality and crispness of the printing (I'm not using it for professional purposes so can't comment on that). I am also very pleased that I went with a black and white laser printer rather than an inkjet where the colors are constantly running "low".
I had intended to find a printer with a lesser footprint. This printer is big, but sleek and beautiful, and understated. ...and totally worth it!
The power cord was much shorter than I expected, so I couldn't put it where I intended. Perhaps this is normal and I'm behind the times, but the power cord for this machine is just under 6 feet. It took some time to rearrange my entire workspace to accommodate the limit, plus the 6 foot printer cable I had ordered wouldn't reach from the new location. First I ordered a 10 foot cord which reached but it stretched across my window. (duh...) I had to order a 16 foot printer cable to work with the only location I could use to plug in the printer. (couldn't move the almost full surge protector because of other cord length limitations). Anyway, be aware of the cord length limitations. Apparently I'm out of practice, but I'm really pleased with this printer!
My husband's office printer requires a few more options than my new one, but when his current printer goes, we'll be looking at Brother printers.
